I've never used a knife-sharpening service before. How does it work?

We supply you with high quality knives, professionally sharpened, and replace them with a newly sharpened set weekly, fortnightly or monthly, according to your needs.

You do not buy the knives. You pay only for the rental service. An extra charge is added if knives are broken or lost.

We will call at your unit at a time convenient to you, never during your busy serving periods.

Please contact us on 07763 300856 or via this website, and we can arrange a time and date for you to visit our workshop where we will grind your knives while you wait or for collection later.

Certainly. We can arrange to collect your knives, and return them to you the following day, or within a few days' time.

We can supply you with a set of knives to use whilst your knives are being sharpened.

I am not satisfied with the grinding company I currently use. How do I switch to your company?

Please contact us, and we will supply you with the knives you need. On the other grinding company's next visit, simply inform them that you no longer require their service.

They will collect their knives, and you will already have our knives to continue your work without interruption.

Beware that some large grinding companies become aggressive when you terminate their service.
Do not be intimidated by such bullying tactics. In most cases, they have no contract with your company, nor any obligation for you to give them any notice of termination of service.

Which type of knives can I choose?

We have a full range of professional knives: from small paring knives through to heavy duty chopping knives, boning and filleting knives, carving knives, serrated knives, kebab knives and a whole range of cleavers.

You can choose whichever type of knife you need, and as many as you require.

We can offer you advice on the type and number of knives best suited to your unit to maximise efficiency and minimise wastage.

What is a fixed knife-set?

A fixed knife-set means that each of your units has the same number and type of knives. This arrangement is suitable only for units which are very similar in size, number of staff and type of menu.

Your fixed-set can be made up of whichever knives you choose.

What is an adapted knife-set?

If your units differ in size, number of staff and type of menu, then an adapted knife-set is more preferable than a fixed-set arrangement.

The knife-sets we provide can be customised for each of your units.

Each of the adapted knife-sets can be made up of whichever type of knives you require.

Can I choose a different set of knives for each of my units?

Yes. In fact, this is usually the best arrangement for your units. Even if the menu is identical in all of your units, many chefs have different preferences where knives are concerned. For example, while some chefs are happy with large 10" chopping knives, others prefer the standard 8" chopping knife.

In units where the menu may differ slightly, the set of knives can be adjusted to accommodate this difference. For example, filleting knives rather than boning knives; serrated knives rather than carving knives.

Some grinding companies only provide fixed knife-sets. This is often not ideal as the units end up with too few or too many knives, or knives which are not suitable.

We can offer a customised set for each of your units.

You can change your type and number of knives at any time. Please contact us directly, or we can arrange this through your chefs.

How often do I need my knives sharpened?

We can arrange weekly, fortnightly or monthly visits, according to your requirements. Every two weeks is the most common arrangement.

Do you sell knives?

Yes. We are registered suppliers of Mondin, Victorinox and Dolomitten knives.

We also have a range of secondhand knives for sale at very reasonable prices.
